Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors consists of a diverse group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to helping single parent households thrive.

Most of them have either been raised by a single mother or are single mothers themselves, and most of them are homeowners.

They understand the challenges that can come with maintaining a home. Our Board comes from real estate, nonprofit and science backgrounds with decades of combined volunteer and leadership experience.

Cara Czarnecki – Founder & President

Cara graduated from UMUC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After moving 10 times in 12 years and to three different countries, she learned a thing or two about moving, housing, living in other countries, and helping children adapt to new environments and situations. In 2009 she went through a divorce and transitioned from a real estate office manager position to full-time real estate sales. 2009 was not a good time in the economy for either of those transitions. During that time, she negotiated short sales and experienced the same housing challenges as the rest of Arizona, and the rest of the country for that matter.

As she sought resources for her own family she started sharing them with other single parents. This is how the idea of Homes for Single Moms began. It wasn’t until 2015 when Cara worked in Corporate Social Responsibility at GoDaddy that she decided it was time to launch Homes for Single Moms as a nonprofit. Her passions are family and home and all that entails.

Jessica Czarnecki – Secretary

Jessica has a Bachelor’s of Science in Ecology and Marine Biology from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. She was raised all over the world but spent her pre-teen and teen years in Arizona. Her parents divorced when she was 15 and she was then raised primarily by a single mother. She saw first-hand the struggles that single parents go through and she has a heart to help them provide the best environment possible for their families.

Anna Carpenter- VP of  Project Management

Jack O’neal – VP of Compliance

Jack has lived in Arizona since 1955, moving here from Arkansas. He worked for fortune 500 companies in the Phoenix area such as ITT, Honeywell and Motorola, and he started and sold two small technology companies.

Jack has been in the real estate industry since 2004 and has volunteered with Boy Scouts of America. He is married and enjoys spending his time with his five grandchildren.
